The title song is one of my favorite EW&F tunes and for that alone I wanted this disc. The sound does not disappoint at all, though it does not have the spaciousness of the live album (Sony) and the sound also doesn't 'wow' me for lack of a better description. It's very good, but not up there with the best SA-CD's I own. Overall this is an excellent album musically speaking. Some say it's their best.

Earth, Wind and Fire just owned. I don't know how else to put it. The performance is just out of this world.

As usual, Mobile Fidelity did not disappoint. The level of inner detail and taughtness is quite marvelous. This was originally recorded on an ATR machine, which is known for extremely low scrape flutter, speed stability and good sonics.

A few things should be noted, though. First of all, this release is piercingly bright. Either MFSL didn't probably calibrate to the tape's test tones, or the original engineers really deviated from "flat." Secondly, the bass thin. Couple this with end-to-end solid state electronics and a rather dry mix - you have nothing to "buffer" the mix from sounding fatiguing. If the engineers are MFSL had worked to carefully contour the EQ, it would be a great release.

That being said, listen to the intro to Caribou Chaser (Jazzy Jam). That's what I call "3D sound."

Not the best MoFi release, but that's like saying that you wouldn't want to date the 50th place winner in the Miss America Pageant. Still solid, still SACD....
