This is a far cry from the other Cello disc I reviewed earlier. In so much as its more a full section with loads of extra instruments which seems to get as much prominence as the cellos. This definitely classifies as crossover and most if not all the items are well known middle of the road numbers. The first thing I noticed was the brighter slightly brasher sound by comparrison with a fantastic Cala CD I have on a similair theme using Violas/ Again Simon conducting. Similair could be said against the Berliners release and It would appear this is probably PCM but it is more that acceptable and at least matches the Cover of the disc itself.Nothing for pure classical diehards here but good pleasant bright entertainment..Hope they do that Viola one but I wont part with my old CD till they do.I also think a more classical disc by the big band cellos may be a better bet.D
