This is the second volume of the Richter set on SACD from the label Praga Digitals. This time the program is composed of the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in A minor Op.16 by Grieg, a work by a young man of twenty-five, and the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G minor Op.33 by Dvorak, dating from 1876. Sviatoslav Richter rarely played these two emblematic scores of nationalistic strain. The works were recorded in concert in Moscow in 1964 for the Concerto by Grieg, here conducted by Kirill Kondrashin, and in 1966 for the Dvorak conducted by Vaclav Smetacek. The DSD remastering once more magnifies these indispensable documents, rare on SASD, which are urgent to procure. For all the Richter fans and all those who love the piano, this reissue is a must-have godsend.
