Performance:   Sonics:
Analogue Productions decision to give this album the SACD treatment seems an odd one to me.

Phoebe has not been anything close to being a major artist. Tagged as a folky, jazzy, up and comer when this album first came out back in 1974. Her initial potential slipping away because caring for her disabled child kept her out of the music business after her initial splash and subsequent poor choices of material to record.

The album is a pleasant listen in a low key folky, jazzy kind way and she does have a great voice. But it didn't really grab me I'm afraid.

The SACD re-mastering on the other hand is excellent and in the Analogue Productions 'house' style, which leans towards dry.

Sound stage wide, instruments well separated and balanced. It is very clean sounding and well recorded. The original tapes also sound as if they were in very good condition.

In the end though I was left wishing that an album by the premier female artist of the era had been used instead.

I am of course thinking of Joni Mitchel. Here's hoping.
