The RCA Victor Gold Seal RBCD of Reiner's Ravel and Debussy has long been perhaps my favourite Reiner/Chicago disc and I have never understood why it wasn't released in the Living Stereo SACD series. Surely Pentatone's artwork has always sucked? If I had seen any of their RQR series sleeves in a shop without knowing anything about the company, I would have assumed that Pentatone was a cheap and tacky knock-off outfit, rather than a purveyor of some of the best-sounding SACDs around. It's amazing how quickly it gets done if you steadily transfer, say, twenty at a time while enjoying your collection! Though I must admit, 10,000 does sound very daunting - I only have a few thousand. I just recycle the discarded cases. I have ordinary shelving which until recently was completely full. Exactly so - though I'm not remotely on the same exalted level as Mr Hough I am a professional musician, and I tend only really to enjoy my (sa)cd collection when I'm not professionally very busy.
