I partly agree. The SACD in stereo (my only option) sounds a lot like an old DG/Karajan recording with some reverb added. Very multimiked and congested at times. I do like the performances a lot. Forceful and driven Beethoven, especially for the 5th, is the best. Listening to the HD stream of this on ClassicsOnlineHD with headphones sounded better ... more | |

I've listened to symphonies three through seven so far. Four and five are really very good with long lines and great tension. The sonics are superb. Three, six and seven will take a couple of more listening sessions (they're harder to get into in general, and I haven't had time to concentrate on them). Thanks for sharing this information. I have an X3, and I immediately went to their site to download the firmware upgrade. I works great. You even get a whole new look-and-feel as well as the DSD capability! To test it out, I bought the new Fischer Brahms 2nd from Channel in DSD format. Very nice sound. ... more |
